About these numbers

Savings grow at the rate you enter, with contributions added at the end of each year and no taxes, fees, or withdrawals. College costs rise at your inflation rate, and the total adds up each college year at its inflated price. Savings are compared with that total on the first day of college, so growth during the college years is not counted. Default costs are College Board average sticker prices for 2025-26 before financial aid.
